Group H: Zhejiang FC (CHN) 1-2 Melbourne City FC (AUS)

Huzhou: Melbourne City FC picked up the first three points of their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 campaign with a hard fought 2-1 win against Zhejiang FC at the Huzhou Olympic Sports Center on Wednesday.

Two early goals from Aziz Behich and Max Caputo set City on their way and even though Zhejiang managed to pull one back through Leonardo, the Australian side held on to make their mark in Group H.

Tokyo: A 90th-minute goal from Motoki Hasegawa helped Japan’s Ventforet Kofu record a historic first-ever win in the AFC Champions League™ as they defeated Buriram United of Thailand 1-0 in their second Group H outing at National Stadium in Tokyo on Wednesday.

After being on the back foot for most of the first half, the Japanese second division side startled the Thai League 1 champions in the closing minutes of the second period when Ryotaro Nakamura hit the woodwork in the 88th minute before Hasegawa headed home the winner for a famous victory as Ventforet made it four points from two games.

Group F: Bangkok United (THA) 3-2 Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (KOR)

Pathum Thani: Bangkok United maintained their perfect start to the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 following an entertaining 3-2 victory over Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in Group F on Wednesday.

Jeonbuk went in front just before the 20-minute mark at Thammasat Stadium through a Thossawat Limwanasathian own goal but Bangkok drew level seven minutes later after a lovely strike from Rungrath Phumichantuk.
 
The second own goal of the night, from Ahn Hyun-beom, saw the hosts take the lead as the hour approached. Willen Mota then fired home a fine third with eight minutes remaining only for Moon Seon-min’s late volley to set up a frantic finish, but Bangkok held out to seal a famous victory.

Hong Kong: First half goals from Richairo Zivkovic and Maxime Lestienne earned Lion City Sailors a 2-1 win over Hong Kong Premier League champions Kitchee on Wednesday as the Singaporean side picked up their first group stage win in the AFC Champions League™ 2023-24.

The result at Hong Kong Stadium leaves Kitchee, who progressed to the Round of 16 for the first time in 2022, stranded at the bottom of Group F as the only team yet to pick up a point from the opening two rounds in this year’s continental championship.

Saitama: Defending champions Urawa Red Diamonds cruised to a 6-0 win over Hanoi FC at a rain-soaked Saitama Stadium 2002 on Wednesday as the J1 League outfit recorded an emphatic victory to pick up their first three-point haul in Group J of the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 this season.

Pham Tuan Hai’s own goal put Maciej Skorza’s side ahead before efforts from Alexander Scholz, Toshiki Takahashi, Takahiro Sekine, Jose Kante and Ekanit Panya moved Urawa onto four points from two games following their opening draw with Wuhan Three Towns.

Pohang: Pohang Steelers kept their 100% record in the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 with a convincing 3-1 win against Wuhan Three Towns in Group J on Wednesday evening at the Pohang Steelyard Stadium. 

The Chinese FA Super Cup champions opened the scoring early on in the eighth minute in exquisite style, when Liu Yiming headed the ball down into Abdul-Aziz Yakubu’s path, with the Ghanaian vollying home from a very tight angle to give them the lead.

Bali: Malaysia’s Terengganu FC fought back to snatch a 1-1 draw against Indonesia’s Bali United in Group G of the AFC Cup™ 2023/2024 at the Captain 1 Wayan Dipta Stadium on Wednesday.

Privat Mbarga’s strike was cancelled out by Syahmi Zamri’s equaliser as both teams moved to four points with Bali United topping the group on goal difference.

Gosford: Australia’s Central Coast Mariners secured an emphatic 9-1 win over Stallion Laguna of Philippines in their AFC Cup™ 2023/24 Group G tie at Central Coast Stadium on Wednesday.

Both teams suffered defeats on Matchday One to Terengganu FC and Bali United respectively, with the win reviving Mariners's hopes of advancing to the ASEAN Zonal semi-finals.

Korea Republic, Japan set up repeat final

Hangzhou: Korea Republic will defend their Asian Games men's football gold medal against Japan in a repeat of the 2018 final.

Korea Republic, seeking a third consecutive gold medal and sixth overall, defeated Uzbekistan 2-1 in their semi-final on Wednesday while Japan beat Hong Kong, China 4-0. 
 
Korea Republic won the 2018 final 2-1 after extra-time.
