Kim, who won this year’s AFC Champions League title with Jeonbuk, joins Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Guangzhou on a six-month deal. The 32-year-old former Korea Republic international now looks set to help Guangzhou defend the Chinese Super League crown they won in 2016, and potentially be an integral part of their 2017 AFC Champions League campaign. In the 2017 edition of Asia’s premier club competition, Guangzhou – continental champions in 2013 and 2015 – have been drawn in Group G alongside Suwon Samsung Bluewings from Korea Republic, Hong Kong’s Eastern SC and a yet to be determined Japanese club.
