Hangzhou: Guangzhou R&F began their latest Chinese Super League campaign with a creditable 2-1 win away at Hangzhou Greentown on Saturday.
After failing to find a way through the Hangzhou defence in the first half, Guangzhou took the lead on 53 minutes when Nigerian striker Aaron Olanare scored.
Cosmin Contra’s side, who are currently third in their season’s AFC Champions League Group F table following last week’s 2-1 home defeat to Buriram United, duly went on to double their advantage thanks to prolific Moroccan forward Abderrazak Hamdallah's goal on 79 minutes.
Hangzhou reduced the deficit on the stroke of full-time through Bassem Boulaabi, but Guangzhou held on to seal a much needed victory.
Guangzhou will continue their Chinese Super League exploits next Friday when they entertain Shanghai Shenhua, before facing Seongnam FC in the AFC Champions League on March 17.
