Pohang Steelers: 50 Years of Footballing Heritage

Pohang: Very few clubs in Asian football can boast as rich a history as Pohang Steelers, who will be celebrating their 50th anniversary on April 1.

Founded in the east coast province of North Gyeongsang in 1973 as Pohang Iron & Steel Company FC (POSCO FC), after its owner POSCO, the club has been crowned champions of Korea Republic five times and kings of Asia on three occasions as well as winning a host of other honours in what's been a fruitful five decades. 
 
In conjunction with their Golden Jubilee on Saturday, the-AFC.com recollects some of the best memories of one of the continent's most successful football teams.

Women’s Olympic hopefuls to embark on path to Paris 2024

Kuala Lumpur: The journey to represent Asia at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024™ begins this weekend when the Asian Qualifiers Round 1 get underway.

Two coveted slots are up for grabs and the 20 teams that are involved in the first of three qualifying rounds will dream of making it all the way to France. Six teams who were part of January’s draw have withdrawn – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Palestine, Sri Lanka and Turkmenistan – while four teams are making their Olympic qualifying debuts, namely Bhutan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan and Timor-Leste.
