Marinos edge Shandong in thriller

Ji'nan: Yokohama F. Marinos edged Shandong Taishan 2-1 in the first leg of their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 quarter-final contest at the Jinan Olympic Sports Centre Stadium on Wednesday. 

Anderson Lopes gave the Japanese side the lead in the seventh minute before his Brazilian compatriot Yan Matheus doubled the lead in the 69th minute. 
 
However, substitute Chen Pu reduced the Chinese side’s deficit in the second half injury time to set up a fascinating second leg.

Tashkent: Korea Republic got their AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 campaign back on track after defeating Chinese Taipei 6-0 at the Do'stlik Stadium on Wednesday.

Having suffered a 2-1 defeat to Australia in their opening Group A game, captain Jeon Yu-gyeong’s first half brace paved the way for Korea Republic with Kim Shin-ji, Bae Ye-bin and Won Chae-eun (two) adding gloss to the emphatic scoreline.

Riyadh: Jorge Jesus expects his Al Hilal SFC side to keep their foot on the pedal when they meet Al Ittihad in the second leg of their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 quarter-final next week.

The four-time Asian champions took a firm grip on the tie with a 2-0 win in the first leg on Tuesday but Jesus saw glimpses of complacency in his side's performance which he said could cost them in the return leg.

Riyadh: Al Hilal SFC secured a vital 2-0 victory over ten-man Al Ittihad in the first leg of their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 quarter-final at Kingdom Arena on Tuesday.

The two teams had played each other in the same stage in 2019 with Al Hilal passing through to the semi-finals with a 3-1 aggregate scoreline, going on to win the title on that occasion.
 
Four days after a 3-1 victory over their domestic rivals in the Saudi Pro League on the same ground, Al Hilal were again in imperious form, with Aleksandar Mitrovic returning to the fold, having been suspended for the league encounter.
