Johor Bahru: Johor Darul Ta'zim will be without the services of striker Safee Sali for their 2017 AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage 2 clash with Bangkok United on January 31 after the Malaysia international opted to move to newly promoted PKNS ahead of the 2017 Malaysia Super League (MSL) season.
Safee (pictured, left) initially was set to return to his former club Selangor but opted to sign up with PKNS instead, following in the footsteps of a number of other players leaving Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) this season including Jaszarin Jamaluddin and Amri Yahyah.
The 32-year-old former Indonesian club Pelita Jaya player has several titles under his belt with JDT including three MSL crowns and the AFC Cup 2015.
"We thank Safee for his services to the club since 2013," said Darul Ta'zim coach Mario Gomez on the JDT’s Facebook account on Tuesday. “He played instrumental roles in the club's successes in various competitions.”
