Ulsan: AFC Champions League quarter-finalists FC Seoul slipped to ninth in the current K-League Classic standings after losing 2-0 to reigning continental champions Ulsan Hyundai on Sunday.
Korea Republic international striker Kim Shin-wook gave Ulsan the perfect start, putting the Asian champions ahead after just two minutes and, just after the half-hour mark Brazilian forward Rafinha (Rafael dos Santos de Oliveira), who was on target in Ulsan’s 3-0 win over Al Ahli in last year’s ACL final, doubled his side’s advantage.
Choi Yong-soo’s side were unable to pin back an Ulsan side that moved up to second in the standings, two points behind Pohang Steelers, the 2009 AFC Champions League winners.
FC Seoul will face last year’s runners-up Al Ahli in the quarter-finals of the 2013 ACL, with the first leg due to be played on August 21 with the second leg on September 18.
