Jeddah: Al Ahli went level on points with Saudi Pro League leaders Al Shabab on Thursday as the ACL 2012 Group C side cruised to a 5-1win over struggling Al Ansar.
Brazilian Victor Simoes netted a hat-trick with the former Chunnam Dragons striker opening the scoring in the eighth minute before adding further goals in the 71st minute and stoppage time.
Amad Al Hosni, who spent a season in Belgium with Charleroi, scored Al Ahli's other goals with the Oman international finding the net in the 33rd and 39th minutes.
Al Ahli, quarter-finalists in 2005, have been drawn in Group C of next year's edition of Asia's premier club competition and will open their campaign on March 7 against Qatar's Lekhwiya, who are making their first appearance in the ACL.
