Sydney: Reigning AFC Champions League champions Western Sydney Wanderers continue to regroup ahead of the defence of their continental title with the addition of 2010 AFC U-19 Championship Top Scorer Kerem Bulut.
Once touted as one of the most promising young strikers in Australia, Bulut fired in 13 goals in 27 appearances for Sydney FC Youth 2009/10 National Youth League before moving to Europe where he played in the Czech Republic for Mlada Boleslav – where he won the 2010/11 Czech Cup – and in Turkey, where he featured for Akhisar Belediyespor and Karşıyaka SK.
Bulut (pictured) is joined for the Wanderers 2015 AFC Champions League campaign by defender Sam Gallaway, who negotiated a release from his contract with Newcastle Jets, and Japanese fullback Yusuke Tanaka.
“Last season we got the chance to add to our roster before our first entry into the Champions League and that is exactly what we are doing now with the signing of some new and very exciting young players,” Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas told the club’s official website.
“We welcome both Sam and Kerem to a new phase of the football career and have no doubt they will enjoy their time at the Wanderers and provide vital contributions to the rest of our current season”.
The Wanderers begin the defence of their AFC Champions League title on February 25 in Japan when they face Kashima Antlers in their opening fixture in Group H, which also features 2014 ACL champions Guangzhou Evergrande and the winner of Playoff 1.
