Al Khor: Qatar’s Al Gharafa SC claimed a famous win after they downed Al Ain FC of UAE 4-2 in a thrilling AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 match at Al Bayt Stadium on Tuesday.

The topsy-turvy match saw Al Gharafa taking a 2-0 lead before being pegged back by AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 winners Al Ain but recovered to score twice as Pedro Martins’ side went on to secure the first win of their campaign.

Riyadh: Al Hilal SFC made it two wins out of two after defeating Al Shorta 5-0 in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 tie at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium on Tuesday.

Goals from Marcos Leonardo and Aleksandar Mitrovic put Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal 2-0 up going into the break, with Salem Al Dawsari, Nasser Al Dawsari and Mohammed Kanno completing the impressive win in the second half.

Johor Bahru: Arif Aiman, Jorge Obregon and Juan Muniz were all on target as Johor Darul Ta’zim notched up a comprehensive 3-0 win over Shanghai Shenhua at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Tuesday to remain unbeaten in the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 after two rounds.

Arif put his side ahead in the 11th minute before Obregon doubled the advantage 15 minutes later as JDT followed their 2-2 draw with Shanghai Port with victory in front of their own fans. Muniz added the third with a delightful 80th minute free kick.

The result moves JDT onto four points from the first two games while Shenhua remain on three points having defeated Pohang Steelers 4-1 in China PR in their opening game last month.

Goals from Jorge Teixeira, Hong Yun-sang and Han Chan-hee sealed the win for Pohang Steelers, while Shanghai Port played with 10 men in the final 10 minutes.

Kawasaki: Gwangju FC maintained their winning start to the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 on Tuesday as Jasir Asani’s first half penalty earned the K League 1 side a defiant 1-0 win over Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale at Todoroki Stadium.

The Korean side had to weather a sustained second half effort from the J1 League outfit after Asani had converted from the spot in the 21st minute, with the win taking Lee Jung-hyo’s team onto six points from their first two games of the league stage.

Kawasaki, meanwhile, remain on three points having won their opening game against Ulsan HD two weeks ago.

MD2: Central Coast Mariners (AUS) 1-2 Buriram United (THA)

Gosford: Buriram United secured their first win of the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024-25 on Tuesday as goals from Guilherme Bissoli and Curtis Good earned the Thai League 1 champions a 2-1 win over Central Coast Mariners in Gosford.

Bissoli put the visitors ahead in the 30th minute and Good doubled the advantage five minutes into the second half before the A-League champions’ task was made insurmountable by goalkeeper Adam Pavlesic’s 57th minute sending off.

Lucas Mauragis thumped home a consolation for Central Coast five minutes into injury time at the end of the game but Buriram had already done enough to take the points.

The win moves Buriram United onto four points from their opening two games of the league phase having drawn 0-0 with Vissel Kobe two weeks ago while Central Coast have yet to pick up a point.
