Bangkok: AFC Cup 2012 quarter-finalists recorded their 11th win of the current Thailand Premier League campaign after coming from a goal down to defeat BEC Tero Sasana 2-1 on Saturday.
Ronnachai Rangsiyo put the inaugural AFC Champions League winners 1-0 up in the 25th minute only for on-form Chonburi striker Pipob On-Mo – who was part of the BEC Tero Sasana side that finished runners-up to Al Ain in the inaugural AFC Champions League – to level just three minutes later.
And with ten minutes remaining France-born Togo international Thomas Dossevi headed home the winner as the Sharks kept the pressure on TPL leaders Muang Thong United.
Chonburi, who have yet to taste defeat in this year's AFC Cup, are gearing up for a last-eight clash with an Al Shorta side looking to become the fifth Syrian club to contest the trophy following the inaugural final between Al Jaish and Al Wahda in 2004; Al Karamah's runners-up finish in 2009 and Al Ittihad's triumph a year later.
The Thais host the first leg on September 18 before the return fixture in the Middle East on the 26th, which will be played in Zaqra, Jordan due to the social unrest in Syria.
