Cong Phuong targeting titles with Ho Chi Minh City FC

Singapore: Ho Chi Minh City FC forward Nguyen Cong Phuong has admitted that he returned to Vietnamese football ahead of the 2020 season with the aim of winning silverware. 

Long since touted as one of the hottest prospects in a generation of prodigiously talented Vietnamese players, the 25-year-old has had spells in Japan, Korea Republic and Belgium in recent years.

But while the forward has struggled for game time during his stints overseas, he has excelled at international level and Ho Chi Minh City pulled off a major coup by acquiring him ahead of their maiden AFC Cup campaign.

Yangon came back from an early deficit with two quick goals, but Nguyen Cong Phuong’s 42nd minute strike helped Ho Chi Minh salvage a point.
