Goa: Dempo Sports Club sealed the 2012 I-League title as the Goan outfit picked up the point they needed following a goalless draw with AFC Cup 2012 Group B strugglers East Bengal.
The draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Friday's I-League Round 25 clash took their points tally to an unassailable 54 points and sees the Armando Calaco-coached side deliver Dempo their fifth national title and make them eligible for the 2013 AFC Cup.
"My team worked hard for the title. We really wanted to win the title at home. We gelled well as a team," Calaco, who guided Dempo to the semi-finals of the 2008 AFC Cup, told the club's official website.
