Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, who plays for AFC Cup 2012 qualifiers Kelantan, has been named Malaysia's Most Valuable Player for the second successive season.
Norshahrul picked up Malaysian football's highest individual honour, which has been named the SuperMokh award in honour of Malaysian football legend Mokhtar Dahari, at the 100PLUS-Astro-FAM National Football Awards ceremony, where the 25-year-old was also recipient of the best striker prize.
"It is definitely a great, great honour to have won the first ever SuperMokh award," the ASEAN Football Federation's website quoted the Kelantan star as saying.
"As a striker from Malaysia, you always look up to player like Mokhtar Dahari and the impact that he has made to the game with his quality. I believe that in the Malaysian football fraternity, how good you are as a striker will always be compared to how Mokhtar was.
"And since I'm a striker, this win is even more significant. I have to compliment 100PLUS and the FAM for coming up with this award ceremony."
Norshahrul and his Kelantan team-mates will learn their opponents for the group stage of the 2012 AFC Cup at the tournament's official draw, which takes place on December 6 at AFC House.
