Kuala Lumpur: AFC has confirmed the neutral venues for the Syrian and Yemeni clubs participating in the remaining group stages matches of the AFC Cup.
According to the letter sent to respective member associations, Syria’s Al Ittihad and Al Shorta and Yemen’s Al Tilal and Al Orouba will have to play their ‘home’ matches at neutral venues.
This Tuesday’s match between Al Shorta and Al Tilal will be played at Prince Mohammad International Stadium of Zerqa City in Jordan while Al Tilal will play its last ‘home’ match of Group E against Iraq’s Al Zawara’a at Duhok Stadium of Iraq – home ground of Al Zawara’a. Likewise, Al Shorta opted for King Abdullah Stadium of Amman to play its last ‘home’ match against Safa SC of Lebanon.
Similarly, Al Orouba travels to Kazma to play of ‘home’ and ‘away’ matches at the Peace and Friendship Stadium with the first of their double header on April 4 regarded as ‘home’ match.
The last ‘home’ match of their group stage against Kolkata giants East Bengal will be played at Jordan’s Petra Stadium April 25. Like Al Orouba, Al Ittihad faces Al Suwaiq of Oman at Suwaiq home ground Al Seeb Sports Stadium in Seeb, Oman but the match will be regarded as Al Ittihad’s home tie. The Syrian side will play its last match home match of the group against Al Faisaly of Jordan at Francouse Al Hareeri Stadium in Arbil, Iraq.
