Odisha hero Fall dedicates goal to new-born twins

Bhubaneswar: Mourtada Fall dedicated his goal to his new-born twins after the Senegalese's solitary effort steered Odisha FC into the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 Inter-Zone semi-finals for the first time on Monday. 

Fall scored with a powerful header in the 61st minute as India's Odisha edged Bashundhara Kings 1-0 to finish as the Group D winners on 12 points, two ahead of their Bangladeshi opponents.

Group D: Odisha edge Bashundhara Kings to finish top

Bhubaneswar: India’s Odisha moved through to the Inter-Zone semi-finals of the AFC Cup™ 2023-24 on Monday with a 1-0 win over 10-man Bashundhara Kings at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar that ensures Sergio Lobera’s side finish top of Group D.

Mourtada Fall’s 61st minute header secured victory for Odisha after Asror Gafurov’s sending off in first half injury time, with the win taking Odisha onto 12 points to see them leapfrog the side from Bangladesh and finish the group phase in pole position.

Male: Maldives’ Maziya Sports & Recreation wrapped up their AFC Cup™ 2023/24 campaign on a winning note as they defeated India’s Mohun Bagan Super Giant 1-0 in their final Group D outing at National Stadium on Monday. 

A Hassan Raif stunner gave Maziya the breakthrough in the 40th minute and that goal proved to be the difference between the two teams, despite Mohun Bagan trying to find a way back into the game for much of the second half.
