Hanoi: Hoang Vu Samson scored a hat-trick as AFC Cup quarter-finalists Hanoi T&T recorded a come-from-behind 3-1 win over struggling Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the domestic V.League 1 on Sunday to stay a point behind leaders Binh Duong.
Gia Lai’s Felix Ogbuke stunned the home crowd after notching the first goal of the match as early as in the 4th minute but Samson’s heroic ensured all three points for Hanoi T&T as he scored his goals in the 31st, 41st and 57th minutes of the match.
After playing 20 matches in the league, Hanoi are a point behind leaders Binh Doung with 44 points. They will travel to Da Nang to face the fourth-place Da Nang FC next week while Binh Doung who also face Da Nang in 14 days time, will take on struggling Long An on the same day.
Hanoi are up against 2012 AFC Cup finalists Arbil of Iraq in the quarter-finals. The first leg in Hanoi will take place on August 19. The second leg will be played in Lebanese capital Beirut in the following week.
