Starynskyi: Phnom Penh’s win an important moment for Cambodian football

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown FC stamped their place in history with their 3-0 win over Macarthur FC of Australia as they maintained their perfect start in Group F of the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 match on Thursday.

In guiding his team to the triumph, Oleg Starynskyi also ensured his side became the first from Cambodia to achieve three successive wins in the AFC Cup and in doing so, overtook Boeung Ket FC as the Cambodian club with most victories in the competition with four.

Jackson urges Mariners to stay grounded

Gosford: Head coach Mark Jackson wants Central Coast Mariners not to be complacent following their resounding 6-3 victory over Indonesia’s Bali United in Group G of the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 on Thursday.

The Australian side had to overcome an early own goal by goalkeeper Jack Warshawsky, with Jacob Farrell and Marco Tulio leading the fightback with braces to claim the three points.

The last gasp victory took Altyn Asyr to four points, three adrfit of leaders FC Abdysh-Ata Kant of Kyrgyz Republic.

Hisor: Abdysh-Ata Kant secured an important 1-0 victory over FC Ravshan in Group E of the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 at Kulob Markazii Stadium on Thursday. 

The win took the Kyrgyz Republic club to seven points as the tournament reached the halfway stage while Ravshan are on two.

Group F: Dynamic Herb Cebu FC (PHI) 1-0 Shan United FC (MYA)

Manila: Dynamic Herb Cebu secured their first victory in Group F of the AFC Cup™ 2023-24 at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila on Thursday as the side from the Philippines handed Myanmar’s Shan United a 1-0 defeat.

Visiting goalkeeper Myo Min Latt steered Ken Murayama’s shot into his own goal just before the half hour mark to give Cebu a win that moves them off the bottom of the group and above the Myanmar National League champions.
 
Cebu now have three points and are three behind second placed Macarthur FC with Phnom Penh Crown of Cambodia leading the group on a maximum nine points following their 3-0 win over the Australians on Thursday.

Macau: Mongolia’s FC Ulaanbaatar registered their second win in three matches in Group I of the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 after they edged MUST CPK 1-0 at Macau Olympic Stadium on Thursday. 

Oyunbaataryn Mijiddorj scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute heading in from a corner kick as the Mongolian champions bounced back from a 2-0 defeat to Chinese Taipei’s Taichung Futuro FC on Matchday Two.

Shintaro Shimizu struck twice with Phach Socheavila adding the third in stoppage time at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium as the Southeast Asian side ended Macarthur’s 100 percent record in stunning fashion to move to nine points.

Asian Qualifiers Round 2: MD1 Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: Twelve Asian teams will continue their quest to reach Paris when the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament - Asian Qualifiers Round 2 kicks off on Thursday.

Divided into three groups, the four sides within each will play a single round-robin league format in their respective centralised venues over three matchdays from October 26 to November 1, 2023.
 
The group winners and the best-ranked runners-up will advance to Round 3 – to be played in February 2024 – and will battle in two pairs of home and away matches, with the victors of each tie filling the two berths on offer for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) at the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
