Singapore: Tampines Rovers followed up their AFC Cup Matchday 4 win over Terengganu with a successful return to domestic duty on Sunday but needed to battle back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Gombak United 3-2.
Tampines found themselves a goal down with ten minutes of their 2012 S.League Round 8 clash at the Clementi Stadium played before Korean forward Jung Hee-bong doubled Gombak’s lead with a 47th minute penalty.
Stags skipper Aleksandar Duric, scorer of both goals in Tampines’ 2-0 triumph over Terengganu, reduced the deficit in the 65th minute with his joint-leading eighth of the current S.League campaign and after Fahrudin Mustafic had leveled the contest with an 85th minute penalty, substitute Jamil Ali struck three minutes into stoppage-time to seal the win.
Tampines, who are third in the S.League standings just three points behind leaders DPMM, face Albirex Niigata on Sunday in their last domestic fixture before returning to AFC Cup action and their Matchday 5 meeting with Kitchee.
