AFC Cup™ 2023/24 contenders set for Knockout Stage Draw
Kuala Lumpur: The path to ultimate glory in the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 will be laid out on Thursday, December 28 at 14:00 (UTC+8) when the official draw ceremony for the Knockout Stage takes place at the AFC House.
Eleven teams have progressed from the Group Stage of the 19th edition of the iconic tournament, which kicked off in September and featured 36 teams from across the Confederation’s five Zones.
Yangon: It wasn’t the result that Phnom Penh Crown FC wanted but in the end, the 2-1 defeat to Shan United did not hamper their progress to the AFC Cup™️ 2023/24 ASEAN Zonal semi-finals.
Four wins and 15 goals scored from their first five matches in Group F ultimately proved enough for the Cambodian side to reach the next stage of the competition for the first time and head coach Oleg Starynskyi is hoping that Thursday’s defeat does not detract from that fact.
Manila: Head coach Mile Sterjovski wants Macarthur FC to not get carried away after sealing their place in the AFC Cup™ 2023/2024 ASEAN Zonal semi-finals with a 3-0 win over Dynamic Herb Cebu FC on Thursday.
The Australian side led from start to finish with goals from Matthew Millar, Jed Drew and Ali Auglah to take top spot in Group F, while Cebu finished third above Myanmar’s Shan United.
Macarthur will play Malaysia’s Sabah FC in the ASEAN Zonal semi-finals while fellow Australian side Central Coast Mariners meet Phnom Penh, with the ties scheduled for February.
