Al Seeb defeat Arabi to book West Zone final berth
Kuwait City: Oman’s Al Seeb edged out Kuwait’s Arabi SC 2-1 in extra time of the AFC Cup™ 2022 West Zone Semi-final on Monday.
Although they needed extra time to take the win, Al Seeb looked assured throughout the 120 minutes and were never really threatened. Quick at the break, clinical in front of goal and with a pressing game that directly yielded a goal, the Omani side’s debut campaign continues and they will face the winners of East Riffa vs Riffa SC in the second West Zone Semi-final.

Arad: East Riffa and Riffa SC are set to make history when they face-off in the AFC Cup™ 2022 West Zone Semi-final on Tuesday, the first-time two Bahraini sides have faced in the competition’s history.
This year is the first time two teams from the island nation advanced past the group stage since 2014 when Riffa and Al Hidd competed in the Round of 16, with the former exiting at the hands of Kuwait SC and the latter reaching the quarter-finals before losing to Qadsia SC.
Since the introduction of the zonal system in 2017, there have been two previous occasions where two sides from the same nation contested the West Zone Semi-final. In 2017 it was Baghdad rivals Air Force Club and Al Zawraa facing-off, while the following year Jordan’s Al Faisaly and Al Jazeera locked horns at the same stage.
