Nemer: Patience was key in Amman Club defeating Shahrdari Sirjan for the title

Aqaba: A patient game approach paid off for Khaled Nemer’s Amman Club in their 2-1 win over Islamic Republic of Iran’s Shahrdari Sirjan to win the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2021 at the Aqaba Development Corporate Stadium, Jordan on Saturday.

Maysa Jbarah gave Amman the lead going into the break before Shahnaz Jebreen's curling effort sealed the victory, with Afsaneh Chatrenoor scoring a late consolation from the penalty spot.

The result meant Amman, on six points, finished ahead of Shahrdari Sirjan to clinch the title by virtue of head-to-head.

AFC President congratulates Amman Club for sealing women’s club title

Aqaba: AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has congratulated Jordan’s Amman Club for securing the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2021 Pilot Tournament (West) title after the host side defeated Shahrdari Sirjan from the Islamic Republic of Iran 2-1 at the Aqaba Development Corporate Stadium in Jordan on Saturday.

Heading into Saturday’s thrilling winner-takes-all decider, the five-time Jordan Women's Football League winners showcased incredible tenacity to leap from third place to finish as group leaders by virtue of a superior head-to-head record against their Iranian opponents who also finished with six points.

Shaikh Salman said: “On behalf of the Asian football family, I would like to congratulate Amman Club for displaying remarkable quality and desire to clinch the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2021 Pilot Tournament (West) title.

Amman Club beat Shahrdari Sirjan to lift title

Aqaba: Jordan’s Amman Club defeated  Islamic Republic of Iran’s Shahrdari Sirjan 2-1 to win the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2021 at the Aqaba Development Corporate Stadium, Jordan on Saturday.

Goals by captain Maysa Jbarah and Shahnaz Jebreen secured Amman Club the title as they shook off the Matchday Two defeat to Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor FC to lift the trophy.

For Shahrdari Sirjan, it was heartbreak at the very end in a tournament they had impressed in from the first matchday, with the Iranians losing out on the title on head-to-head.

Sree Gokulam Kerala turn on the power to defeat Bunyodkor

Aqaba: Sree Gokulam  Kerala FC defeated FC Bunyodkor 3-1  to finish third in the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2021 at the Aqaba Development Corporate Stadium, Jordan on Saturday.

Gokulam took a 1-0 lead through Elshaddai Acheampong  going into the break before goals from Manisha and Karen Stefanny Paez either side of Umida Zoirova's effort for Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor, netted a comfortable win for the Indian side.

Women video match officials benefit from latest VMO course

Abu Dhabi: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reinforced its commitment to further develop women match officials by organising a Women’s Video Match Officials (VMO) course in the United Arab Emirates from October 23 to November 1, 2021. 

The 10-day course, which was also aimed at preparing the VMOs for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, was attended by 13 match officials including FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 referees Casey Reibelt and Kate Jacewicz of Australia.

Saudi Arabian Football Federation launches first women's football league

Riyadh: The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) announced on Saturday it was launching the first edition of the Saudi Women's Football League later this month.

The November 22 launch is part of a programme set up by the SAFF in 2017 to support women's football.
