AFC rebrands major national team and club competitions
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) today launched an exciting and dynamic range of brand-new logomarks and visual identities for its major national team tournaments - the AFC Asian Qualifiers, AFC Asian Cup, AFC Women’s Asian Cup, AFC U23 Asian Cup, and the hugely popular annual club competitions - the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup.
The new look and feel will be prominently featured across all fan focused touch-points with the AFC competitions in the coming years, from the match venues, to television broadcasts and social media channels.
Vote for your best 2020 AFC Champions League Team: Goalkeeper
Kuala Lumpur: Fans of Asian football have voted for their Best XI at each edition of the AFC Champions League between 2016 and 2019, so now the-AFC.com turns to the most recently concluded chapter, the 2020 competition, to determine the top 11 players.
To select the candidates for each position, we have reflected on match data from the tournament to draw up a statistics-based approach to present the outstanding performers.
We kick things off with five standout goalkeepers for the all-important number one jersey. Review the nominees and then choose who you think should take the position as the last line of defence in this all-star XI in the poll below.
Best Goal of AFC Champions League 2020: Six finalists confirmed
Kuala Lumpur: Theerathon Bunmathan, Abdulrahman Al Obaid and Mehdi Abdi Qara have completed the cast for the Best Goal of AFC Champions League 2020 final following the conclusion of Semi-final 2 on Wednesday.
Yokohama F. Marinos' Theerathon topped the second semi-final with 45.75 percent of the votes with Al Nassr's Ol Obaid finishing second with 18.67 percent. Persepolis FC's Abdi Qara finished third with 17.98 percent.
Best Goal of AFC Champions League 2020: First 3 finalists determined
Kuala Lumpur: The first three finalists for the Best Goal of AFC Champions League 2020 have been decided following the conclusion of Semi-final 1 on Wednesday.
Persepolis FC's Mehdi Abdi Qara topped Semi-final 1 with a whopping 69.43 percent of the votes for his goal against Al Nassr in the semi-finals while another Iran club, Esteghlal FC will also be represented in the final with Cheick Diabate's effort against Al Ahli Saudi FC in the group stage garnering 22.15 percent of the votes.
Al Nassr's Abderrazak Hamdallah, the 2020 AFC Champions League top scorer with seven goals, also advanced to the final with his group stage goal against Sepahan FC receiving the third highest number of votes.
Check out the Semi-final 1 nominees and results below and don't forget to cast your vote in Semi-final 2 which starts at 14:00 (UTC+8) on Thursday. The top three will advance to the final which kicks off on January 7.
Kuala Lumpur: Tractor SC have been voted as Asia's Most Popular Club by fans following a week-long poll by the-AFC.com.
The Islamic Republic of Iran clubside garnered 51.14 percent of the 1,468,693 votes cast to emerge top after months of domestic polls and four regional finals.
The most popular club in our IR Iran poll, as well as our Central and South Asian regional poll, Tabriz-based Tractor had to see off some of the biggest names in Asian club football and the-AFC.com extend our congratulations to them.
