Draw sets stage for rising stars' journey to glory

Kuala Lumpur: 44 teams from across the continent learnt of their challengers after the AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022™ Qualifiers Draw on Tuesday. 

Scheduled for September 10 to 18, the 10 group winners and the five best runners-up will join hosts Uzbekistan in the 2023 Finals.

Asia's young talents learn qualification opponents

Kuala Lumpur: The qualifying cast for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Bahrain 2023™ Qualifiers was finalised on Tuesday.

A total of 44 participating Member Associations (MAs) were divided into 10 centralised qualifying groups, six of which will feature four teams, while four groups will include five sides when the Qualifiers take place from October 1 to 9, 2022.

Turkmenistan, Tajikistan through to Finals

Bishkek: Turkmenistan and Tajikistan booked their places in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Kuwait 2022™ Finals after finishing as runners-up in their respective groups in the Central & South Zone Qualifiers on Tuesday. 

Islamic Republic of Iran recorded a perfect Group A campaign with three wins out of three matches after beating Kyrgyz Republic.

Uzbekistan were also undefeated after defeating Tajikistan, who squeezed their way into the Finals on goal difference, with Afghanistan finishing third.

IR Iran, Uzbekistan through to Kuwait 2022

Bishkek: Islamic Republic of Iran and Uzbekistan have confirmed their places in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Kuwait 2022™ after securing a top two finish in their respective groups of the Central and South Zone Qualifiers on Monday. 

Islamic Republic of Iran beat Turkmenistan 3-0 to stay top of the leaderboard in Group A with six points. Kyrgyz Republic, meanwhile, revived their qualification hopes after beating Maldives. 

Uzbekistan were the first team from the region to qualify to the Finals after their 5-1 win over Afghanistan. The White Wolves are assured of a top two finish regardless of the result in the final match on Tuesday. One point is all Tajikistan need to secure a second place finish in Group B.

Opening day wins for IR Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan

Bishkek: AFC Futsal Asian Cup defending champions Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan opened their Central and South Zone Qualifiers with wins in their respective groups on Sunday. 

Iran took the lead in Group A after a 17-0 win over Maldives, while Turkmenistan beat Kyrgyz Republic 3-1 to sit second on goal difference. 

Uzbekistan also enjoyed a win in Group B with a 5-1 victory against Nepal, while Tajikistan and Afghanistan played to a 4-4 draw.

Kathmandu: Sri Lanka’s Blue Star SC moved a step closer to the AFC Cup™ 2022 group stage, earning an impressive 2-1 win against Nepalese champions Machhindra FC in their Preliminary Round clash at Dashrath Stadium on Tuesday.

First half goals from Mohamed Ishan and Shenal Sandesh proved decisive for the visitors, who are now potentially 180 minutes away from becoming the first Sri Lankan club to secure group stage football in the competition.

Sujal Shreshtha pulled back a goal for Machhindra with virtually the final action of the match, but it couldn't prevent a defeat which ended the hosts' Asian odyssey ended at the first hurdle.

Jamshedpur: India edged Bangladesh to clinch their first SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship title as the tournament came to an end on Friday.

The three-team tournament featured hosts India, Bangladesh and Nepal in a double round robin format, with the young Blue Tigress emerging victorious after four matches with nine points to their name, denying Bangladesh a third successive title on goal difference.

Jamshedpur: Bangladesh, India and Nepal will be vying for regional glory when they clash in the SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship India 2022, with all three head coaches confident of their chances ahead of the tournament kicking off on Tuesday. 

The three-team championship will be played on a double round-robin basis at the JRD Tata Complex in Jamshedpur, and will run until March 25.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Asian Cup China 2023™ Qualifiers Final Round promises to be a thrilling affair with the 24 teams learning their opponents on Thursday.

The draw, held virtually in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, saw the teams drawn into six groups.

The six group winners and five best second-placed teams will join hosts China PR, Australia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Japan, Korea Republic, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and United Arab Emirates and Vietnam in the Finals.

Continuous coaching commitment see Nepal & Mongolia awarded B Level membership

Kuala Lumpur: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) have become the latest Member Associations (MA) to be awarded B Level membership in the AFC Coaching Convention for their long-term commitment towards improving coach education in their respective countries. 

Theory and practical sessions were held via Zoom in Nepal from 26-29 September and in Mongolia from 21-22 September and 5 October. ANFA’s sessions were led by Sanjeet Singh, Head of Coach Education while Coach Education Director Ganzorig Erdene-Ochir and his assistant Garidmagnai Bayasgalan took charge of the MFF.
