Abdullah blames injuries for Kuwait SC's early AFC Cup elimination
Seeb: Kuwait SC head coach Mohammed Abdullah bemoaned injuries and a lack of discipline as the three-time AFC Cup™ champions crashed out of the group stage after a goalless draw against Jableh SC on Tuesday.
Despite ending the group stage unbeaten, the Kuwaiti side’s five points were only enough for a second-place finish and meant they missed out on the best runners-up ticket in favour of Riffa of Bahrain who collected six points in Group B.
Kuwait SC head coach Mohammed Abdullah had to make do without the services of Kuwaiti internationals Sami Al Sanea and Ahmed Zanki who were sidelined with injuries in a cagey affair which saw both Kuwait SC and Jableh threaten on occasions but ultimately unable to find a breakthrough.

Muharraq: Tishreen SC head coach Tarek Jabban and his Nejmeh counterpart Tarek Jaraya both apologised after their teams crashed out of the AFC Cup™ 2022 on Tuesday.
Syria's Tishreen won the final Group C tie 3-1 but it was not enough as they - along with Lebanon's Nejmeh - crashed out of the competition with Bahrain's East Riffa topping Group C to advance to the West Zonal Semi-finals.
Muscat: Last year’s West Zonal Finalists Kuwait SC crashed out of the AFC Cup™ 2022 at the group stage after playing out a 0-0 draw against Jableh SC of Syria in the final match of Group A on Tuesday.
Al Seeb Club’s 4-0 win over Al Ansar earlier in the day meant Kuwait SC needed a win to regain the top of the group, while the draw lefts them fighting for the best runner-up spot which went to Group B’s Al Riffa who defeated Shabab Al Khalil 3-1 to end their campaign with six points, one more than the Kuwaiti side.

Muscat: Jableh SC assistant coach Ali Barakat wants his players to continue proving they are a match for other teams in Group A of the AFC Cup™ 2022 as they prepare to end their group stage campaign with a decisive clash against group leaders Kuwait SC on Tuesday.
Making their continental debut, Jableh SC bounced back from a 1-0 defeat at the hands of group hosts Al Seeb to overcome Lebanon’s Al Ansar with the same score thanks to Hussain Al Jwayed’s added time strike, helping them go into the final matchday with a chance of achieving historic qualification to the next round.
Discipline was key, says Ben Jabriah after historic Jableh show
Muscat: Discipline was the key to victory according to head coach Saber ben Jabriah as Jableh recorded a famous 1-0 win over Al Ansar in Group A of the AFC Cup™ 2022 on Saturday.
Having lost their continental debut against group hosts Al Seeb 1-0, Jableh dominated from start to finish, but left it late to break the deadlock deep in added time of the second half as Hussain Al Juwayed embarked on a driving run from the halfway line before burying home the winner, his side’s first-ever goal in the competition.

Muharraq: Head coach Florin Motrok immediately cast his eyes on getting East Riffa ready for Matchday Three after the Bahraini side defeated Syria's Tishreen SC 2-0 in Group C of the AFC Cup™ 2022 on Saturday.
While Matrok welcomed a much-needed win following the goalless draw with Lebanon's Nejmeh SC, it came with a price as Duaij Mahroofi and Mohamed Duaij will miss the concluding tie against Hilal Alquds of Palestine after being sent off against Tishreen.
East Riffa and Nejmeh are both on four points with an identical goal difference going into Tuesday's Matchday Three.
