#ACLElite contenders assemble for expanded League Stage kick-off

Kuala Lumpur: All eyes in Asia will turn to the AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27™ when the opening matchday begins on September 14 (Monday).

Taking place for the 24th occasion in the modern era under the AFC Champions League™ banner, the competition was revamped to its current name starting from the 2024/25 edition. More significantly, the upcoming campaign features an expanded League Stage cast of 32 clubs – eight more than the preceding two seasons.

PS: Yangon United FC (MYA) 2-1 Ezra FC (LAO)

Yangon: Myanmar’s Yangon United FC staved off a late Ezra FC fightback to pick up a 2-1 win in their AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Preliminary Stage match on Tuesday.

The win sees Yangon joining Indonesia’s Borneo FC Samarinda, One Taguig FC of the Philippines and Chinese Taipei’s Tainan City FC in Group C.

Sosnowiec: China PR kickstarted their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026 Group F campaign with an emphatic 5-0 win against New Caledonia on Monday.

Huang Jiaxin scored a devastating 12-minute hat-trick as China PR stepped up a gear in the second half to break a brave resistance from New Caledonia.

The Asian side also had Chen Ruilin to thank for the victory, with the half-time substitute assisting four out of her side's five goals.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirms that the AFC Challenge League 2026/27™ Preliminary Stage match between Kasuka FC (BRU) and Karketu Dili FC (TLS), originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, has been postponed.

The match has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 15, 2026 and will kick off at 20:15 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.
