Bacolod City: Suleyman Muhadov scored a goal in each half as Turkmenistan champions HTTU defeated Tatung Company 2-0 to take the early lead in Group B of the 2014 AFC President’s Cup after North Korean debutants Rimyongsu twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with hosts Ceres La Salle in Tuesday’s earlier match at the Panaad Stadium.
Muhadov, who was runner-up in the 2013 Turkmenistan league scoring charts with 23 goals, three less than top scorer Mammedaly Karadanov, broke the deadlock in the 16th minute to give the 2010 AFC President’s Cup semi-finalists a slender advantage going into the interval.
Tatung, who have also reached the final four of the President’s Cup with the Chinese Taipei side making it to the semis in their debut campaign in 2006, held out until the 87th minute when Muhadov scored his and HTTU’s second to complete the win.
