Amman: AFC Cup regulars Al Wehdat have started the Jordan domestic football season brightly after seeing off Al Baqa’a 2-0 to clinch the Jordan Super Cup title on Thursday.
Wehdat, who had beaten the same opponents in the final of the FA Cup by an identical scoreline last year, will start their domestic campaign next month against Al Sareeh.
Mohmoud Zaatra and Bahaa Faisal were on target for the previous season’s double winners. Zaatra opened the scoring in the third minute, before Faisal ensured the win in the 58th minute.
Al Wehdat are three-time AFC Cup semi-finalists, but failed to qualify for the 2014 edition along with traditional rivals Al Faisaly, while Jordanian debutants That Ras went out in the Round of 16 after succumbing to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Kuwait's Qadsia SC.
