London: Chelsea Football Club Women have announced the signing of Australian forward Sam Kerr on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The 26-year-old international will join up with the Blues when the mid-season transfer window opens, linking up with the squad for the second half of the 2019/20 Women’s Super League season.
Kerr had previously split her playing time between Perth Glory in the Australian W-League from October to April and Chicago Red Stars in America’s National Women’s Soccer League from April to September.

Adelaide: Australia made it two wins over Chile in less than a week, defeating the South Americans 1-0 in a friendly international at Hindmarsh Stadium on Tuesday.
Emily Gielnik scored the game’s only goal in the 23rd minute, while Sam Kerr provided the assist, had a penalty saved and hit the woodwork on a night where the Australian captain did everything but score.
The match was part of the Matildas’ preparation for next February’s Olympic Qualifiers, where they will meet Chinese Taipei, Thailand and China PR on the Road to Tokyo.

Sydney: Sam Kerr scored both of her team’s goals as Australia defeated Chile 2-1 in front of a record home crowd in their international friendly on Saturday.
A total 20,029 fans saw the Matildas captain guide her side to victory in their first outing since the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019, opening the scoring in the third minute before adding a second in the 72nd minute, only for Camila Sáez to pull a goal back as Chile mounted a late challenge.
Ante Milicic’s side will meet the Chileans again in Adelaide on Tuesday, before turning their attention to February’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Qualifiers.

Cary: Sam Kerr’s ever-expanding career trophy haul grew once again on Friday, as the star Australian striker was named the 2019 Most Valuable Player for the US-based National Women’s Soccer League.
Kerr’s most recent accolade is her second NWSL MVP Award after she was also voted the league’s outstanding player in 2017.
She has also won the Golden Boot Award for the league’s top scorer for the past three seasons, in addition to a swag of individual honours in Australia’s W-League.

Paris: Two of Asia’s biggest stars have been shortlisted among the world’s best players, with Korea Republic’s Son Heung-min and Australia’s Sam Kerr nominated in their respective categories for the prestigious honour awarded by France Football.
Son was one of 30 players to make the final shortlist in the men’s category, while Kerr was one of 20 to be selected on the women’s side.
Spanish-based Korean youngster Lee Kang-in was also among nominees, earning a place on the 10-man shortlist for the Kopa Trophy, which is awarded to the best performing player aged 21 or under.

Bridgeview: Australian striker Sam Kerr made her latest entry to the record books, breaking her own record to set a new individual season scoring mark in the US-based National Women’s Soccer League on Saturday.
The Matildas goal machine and 2017 AFC Women’s Player of the Year found the back of the net twice in Chicago Red Stars’ 3-1 win over Washington Spirit, taking her season tally to 18; one more than the previous record she set in 2017.
Kerr’s 18 goals have come in just 20 appearances, and despite her missing a month of league football due to Australia’s participation in FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019, where she scored five goals in four matches.

Fukuoka: Japan’s build-up to next year’s Tokyo Olympics continued with 2-0 win over South Africa, while China PR beat Brazil on penalties after a 0-0 to win the Yongchuan International Tournament in Chingqing on Sunday

All of the scoring came in the first half, with Olympique Lyonnais star Saki Kumagai notching a rare international goal in the 20th minute before Yuika Sugasawa added a second four minutes before half time.
Japan’s success follows last month’s 4-0 success over Canada, as the Asian champions look to challenge for medals in their home Olympics next August.
