Bahrain defeat Kuwait to book FIFA Arab Cup Finals ticket

Doha: Bahrain national team scored two late goals to edge Kuwait 2-0 in a 2021 FIFA Arab Cup playoff match at the Khalifa International Stadium on Friday.

Goals from Ali Haram and Sayed Hashim steered Bahrain to the Finals, where they will play in Group A along with hosts Qatar, Iraq and Oman.

Kuwait's Bader Al Mutawa makes most-capped player history

Doha: Kuwait’s FIFA Arab Cup qualifier against Bahrain on Friday was a hugely significant fixture as it was also the game that finally allowed Kuwaiti forward Bader Al Mutawa to become the most-capped player in the history of men’s football.

Earlier this month, during Kuwait’s unsuccessful attempt to reach the third round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Al Mutawa won his 184th cap to tie the record of Egyptian legend Ahmed Hassan, set on 22 May 2012 against Togo.
