Kuala Lumpur: Renowned football fitness expert Prof. Jens Bangsbo will be one of the main speakers who will speak on the fitness of elite football players at the 4th AFC Conference on Science and Football Medicine here in Malaysia's capital on 18-20 March 2011.
The Dane will be involved in several presentations during the conference which has drawn the participation of some 400 delegates from around the world who are experts in health science and football medicine.
The Copenhagen University’s exercise physiology professor’s main presentation will be a lecture entitled “Physical Demands in Elite Football Players” on March 20 at 10am.
During the conference’s symposium sessions, Bangsbo will present on the topics “Fitness Tests in Top-Class Footballers” on March 18 at 12.10pm and “Fitness Training of Top-Class Football Players” on March 19 at 11.30am.
Bangsbo was an assistant coach with Italian giants Juventus for three years and was a Danish international before becoming a FIFA and UEFA Instructor. He is also a regular expert instructor in the AFC’s annual Elite Education Seminar series.
He has written more than 250 scientific articles and reviews as well as 15 books with the most recent being “Aerobic and Anaerobic Training in Soccer - Special Emphasis on the Training of Youth Players”.
The prevention of sudden cardiac deaths through pre-competition medical assessments, playing football in the heat, age determination of players, new strategies in the fight against doping as well as fasting and playing are among the highlight topics of the world-renowned conference.
