Philadelphia: Japan international Yuto Nagatomo scored a second half goal to help Inter Milan beat Roma 2-0 in the Guinness International Champions Cup at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday.
Nagatomo, who was an ever-present during Japan’s FIFA World Cup campaign in Brazil, captained Inter and saw his side take the lead courtesy of a Nemanja Vidic header shortly before half-time.
Inter duly doubled their lead in Philadelphia on 68 minutes when Nagatomo expertly swept the ball home from close range after Roma had failed to clear Danilo D’Ambrosio’s cross.
The result was, however, not enough for Inter to qualify for Monday’s final as they were beaten to top spot in Group A by Manchester United who will now play Group B winners and Premier League rivals Liverpool.
