Ulaanbaatar: Mongolia has concluded a one-month ‘Children-Football-Future’ grassroots project that culminated in a one-day festival in celebration of AFC Grassroots Year 2013.
Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) in cooperation with project partner ‘MCS Coca Cola’ LLC Mongolia organised the events them for children aged between six and 12 to promote football among children by putting special emphasis on grassroots-level football.
"The course’s month-long duration was a major factor to involve as many children as possible and the MFF opened up a great opportunity for children who were interested in football by giving them an option to participate for a such long period, especially during the school holidays," MFF General Secretary Ganbat Demchigdor said.
"MFF involved over 100 children during the duration of the course. The majority of the children participated everyday but some of them came every two or three days. Even though the number of participating children was fluctuating, an average number per day was kept within 30-35.
"MFF discovered that there were many children who were willing to play football at very young age and most of them wanted to step into the real world of football which starts with elementary grassroots-level football."
The course was coached monitored by ‘B’ Licensed coach Dontor Lkhgvadorj and Batbold Dorjpalam, a ‘C’ Licence coach, who were Mongolian U-14 national team coaches. During the festival the organisers planned and executed various technical drills and games as well as photo exhibitions and group photo sessions.
The whole event at the MFF Football Centre was initiated by Demchigdorj and all coaches and technical staff were mobilised for the festival in order to run it as smooth as possible.
The MFF grassroots course was highly praised by the parents who enjoyed their time with their children during the course and grassroots festival, which was the pinnacle of the whole event. The events also received wide coverage by the media.
More excitement is on the way as MFF in cooperation with FIFA will organise grassroots events for six provinces of Mongolia in September 2013 and each event will include two days of grassroots instructors’ course and a one-day festival of football.
