Kuala Lumpur: The Oman Football Association (OFA) has named Erwin Koeman as the new head coach of the national team.
OFA announced Koeman's appointment after a board meeting on Wednesday.
Koeman, who succeeds Dutch compatriot Pim Verbeek, has signed a two-year contract effective March 10.
Verbeek, who led Oman to the knockout stage of the AFC Asian Cup for the first time in UAE 2019 last month, has retired from coaching.
Koeman's last position was as the interim coach of Turkish club Fenerbahce. His younger brother, Ronald, is the manager of the Netherlands team.
