Kuala Lumpur: Works on the first two mini pitch projects under the AFC President's Initiatives for Asian Football have started in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
In Afghanistan, the sub-base construction of three mini pitches at the technical centre of the Afghanistan Football Federation is almost complete and installation of the pitch is scheduled to start in mid-August.
The first of two phases of the project in Kyrgyzstan is reaching a similar status at the national technical centre of the Football Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The second phase of the Kyrgyzstan project will be built in the city of Osh, with works starting immediately upon completion of the Bishkek project, currently scheduled for early September 2015.
Roberto Teani, Project Manager from AFC Mini Pitch Partner Limonta Sport, expressed his satisfaction at the progress so far, stating: “The success of these projects is highly dependent on the support Limonta gains at a local level from each Member Association and sub-contractors.
“We hope that the excellent cooperation we have had so far will continue and we can complete the projects on schedule.”
The third project under the AFC President's Initiatives is scheduled to start in the upcoming weeks at the technical centre of the DPR Korea Football Association in Pyongyang.
Each mini pitch will consist of a playing surface (usually 40x20 meters), surrounding walls, containing nets, mini goals and lights.
The Mini Pitch Scheme is part of the AFC President’s Initiatives for Asian Football which was launched in June 2014.
The introduction of the Mini Pitch Scheme is aimed at increasing the number of facilities available for grassroots and community football throughout Asia and 17 Member Associations will benefit from the scheme in the next two years.
