Kuwait City: Iraq dealt defending champions Qatar's hopes of retaining the 2017 Gulf Cup title a blow after coming from behind to register a 2-1 win in their Group B tie at the Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium on Tuesday.
Qatar took an early lead when Almoez Ali found the back of the net in the 17th minute.
Iraq, however, were undeterred and were rewarded for their persistence when Ali Faez Atia scored their equaliser in first half stoppage time.
Iraq, held to a 1-1 draw by Bahrain in their opening match, continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and scored through Ali Husni in the 65th minute to move to the top of the Group B standings.
