Kuala Lumpur: Kelantan successfully defended their Malaysian FA Cup crown after edging Johor Darul Takzim 1-0 at the capacity crowd Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Saturday.
Man of the match Mohammed Badhri was the creator of the solitary winner which was slotted home by midfielder Nor Farhan in the 17th minute. The 2012 treble winner Kelantan, who finished the season on mediocre fifth place and failed to progress beyond the Round 16 stages of the AFC Cup 2013, booked a berth in the next year’s AFC Cup with the FA Cup win.
“It was a great win….the FA Cup is very important competition,” Kelantan coach Bojan Hodak told www.the-afc.com.
“Now we will be playing in the AFC Cup next season which is a great incentive for the clubs, players as well as the fans.
“We were the deserved winners as from the first minute we controlled the game. I think they had just two freekicks as half chances but we had many more in the match so it was a fair result,” the ecstatic Croatian added.
