Bishkek: Kyrgyzstan booked their place in the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup with a 1-0 win over Tajikistan as the curtain came down on qualifying Group B on Thursday.
The single goal victory was Kyrgyzstan’s third of the qualifiers and remarkably it was the same scorer in all three matches, with David Tetteh settling the decisive encounter at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium with four minutes of the first-half to play.
It was the naturalised Ghanaian’s third of the campaign following his match-winning strikes against Macau and Pakistan and ensured Kyrgyzstan qualified for next year’s AFC Challenge Cup finals with a 100% record.
The top team in each of the five qualifying groups and the two best second-placed sides will join hosts Maldives, with Myanmar, Afghanistan and Palestine having already booked their tickets after finishing top of qualifying groups A, C and D respectively.
Three-team Group E, which features the Philippines, Turkmenistan, and Cambodia with Brunei on longer participating, kicks-off on March 22.
