Muntari stars as Qatar down Luxembourg in friendly
Debrecen: An early first half strike from Mohammed Muntari steered reigning AFC Asian Cup champions Qatar to a 1-0 win against Luxembourg in an international friendly at Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, Hungary on Wednesday.
Qatar, preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2022, played Luxembourg as an invited team in Group A of the European Qualifiers. They will take on Azerbaijan on Saturday before meeting Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.

Dushanbe: Tajikistan will be aiming to keep their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualification hopes alive when they resume their Asian Qualifiers campaign against Mongolia on Thursday.
The match, which is also part of the qualification process for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023, sees the resumption of Group F after a 16-month hiatus, with up to 10,000 fans allowed to enter Dushanbe’s Central Republican Stadium.
Bozik’s spirited Mongolia aim high in history-making campaign
Dushanbe: When the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 campaign began in June 2019, Mongolia had the honour of hosting the very first qualifying game globally. The Blue Wolves duly registered the first qualifying victory by winning 2-0 against Brunei Darussalam, before a 2-1 away defeat allowed them to progress 3-2 on aggregate.
Now 21 months on, the East Asians are again the first to act as the continent's qualifying resumes this week. The team, under new boss Rastislav Bozik, take on hosts Tajikistan on Thursday before facing Group F leaders Japan five days later.
Having seen the qualifying fixtures postponed for a year due to COVID-19, the team are hungry to embrace the return to action according to Bozik.
