Muscat: Oman coach Talib Hilal Al Thanawi has added four new players to his squad as the Sultanate prepare to defend their AFC Beach Soccer Championship title in Malaysia in March.
The Omanis, who beat Japan 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra-time to win their first AFC Beach Soccer Championship title in Qatar almost two years ago, have enlisted the services of Mohammed Al Siyabi, Awadh Al Yousefi, Nibras Al Sabri and Hussain Al Ajmi, the Oman Football Association’s website has announced.
Al Thanawi’s side are currently undergoing a training camp that will last until January 14 and are set to learn their opponents for this year’s competition at the tournament's official draw on Tuesday.
The competition serves as the qualifiers for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017, with the top three finishers going on to represent Asia at the global extravaganza.
