Muscat: Oman have become the latest nation to name their squad for next month’s AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 extravaganza.
As expected, goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi and exciting striker Abdulaziz Muqbali headline the 23-man list, while experienced midfielder Ahmed Mubarak also features as Oman look to improve on their 2004 and 2007 group stage finishes.
Head coach Paul Le Guen and his squad will arrive at their Canberra base on Sunday and are scheduled to play friendlies against Qatar on December 31 and China on January 4 before starting their bid for continental glory with a Group A clash against Korea Republic on January 10.
Oman, who finished fourth at the recently concluded Gulf Cup of Nations, will also face host nation Australia and 1980 Asian Cup winners Kuwait.
