Zurich: Japanese coaches Norio Sasaki and Hiroshi Yoshida have been shortlisted for the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women's Football for 2012 award.
Sasaki (pictured), who has been head coach of the Nadeshiko since 2007, led the 2011 FIFA World Cup champions to a silver medal finish at the London Olympics while Yoshida was at the helm both the Japan U-20 and the U-17 Women's teams, guiding the Young Nadeshiko to a third-place finish at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup on home soil before leading the AFC U-16 Women's champions to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan.
The shortlist of ten candidates for the FIFA's Women's Coach of the Year was compiled by experts from FIFA's Committee for Women's Football and the FIFA Women's World Cup and a group of experts from France Football
The final decisions will be made, as usual, by the captains and head coaches of the women's national teams as well as by international media representatives selected by France Football.
FIFA and France Football will announce the names of the three final candidates at a press conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil on November 29 while the winners of all of the awards will be revealed at the FIFA Ballon d'Or gala as part of a televised show at the Zurich Kongresshaus on January 7, 2013.
