Hebron: Palestine Cup holders Shabab Al Khaleel defeated league champions Shabab Al Thahrea 4-2 on penalties to claim the 2013/14 season-opening Palestine Super Cup.
Star striker Fahed Attal, top scorer at the 2006 AFC Challenge Cup, put Shabab Al Khaleel 1-0 up with seven minutes at the Dura Stadium played only for I. Al Senaty to level the match five minutes from the interval.
Shabab Al Thahrea begin the defence of their West Bank League title on September 11 against Hilal Al Quds, who will take part in the AFC President’s Cup finals from September 23 to 29, while the Super Cup champions open their campaign on the same day against Taraji Wadi Al Nes.
