Phnom Penh: Thailand claimed the 2015 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-16 Championship title on Sunday thanks to a 3-0 win over Myanmar.
The Thais, who had lost to Laos in their Group A opener on July 27, broke the deadlock on 41 minutes thanks to Sittirak Koetkhumthong’s effort.
Bangkok Christian College defender Natthapong Nakpitak doubled his side’s advantage with nine minutes remaining, before Jinnawat Russamee – the competition’s joint top scorer - bagged his seventh of the campaign to effectively end the game as a contest.
Thailand’s success was their third at this level since the Championship’s inception in 2002.
Meanwhile, Australia claimed third place thanks to a 10-1 thumping of a Laos, a consummate win which included hat-tricks from both Ahmad Sweedan and Rahmat Akbari.
