Phuket is an island that lies off the Western coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea and is the biggest tourist destination after Bangkok with per capita income higher than other provinces of Thailand. It is one of the 76 provinces of Thailand. Administratively, these provinces are divided into six Regions. Phuket is one of the 14 provinces of the Southern Region. The 2004 December Tsunami did massive damage to the island but the island has now recovered from the after-effects.
Football is one of the most popular sports in Phuket Province with one semi-professional and several amateur clubs competing in football activities year-round. However unorganised till date, there are several football activities in Phuket and the fact that it is a tourists’ hub, the Western tourists have added more vigour in the popularity of football across the Province.

Phuket Province is divided into three districts - Mueang Phuket, Katu and Thalang. These districts are further subdivided into 17 sub-districts and 103 villages. There are further nine municipalities in Phuket Province – Phuket City (city), Pathong, Katu (towns), Karon, Thep Krasattri, Choeng Thale, Ratsada, Rawai and Wichit (municipalities).
