Abu Dhabi: The Local Organising Committee for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 are calling on all amateur footballers to play for the pride of their countries in a prestigious once-in-a-lifetime community tournament that will replicate the 24-nation AFC Asian Cup tournament in January.
Football fans are invited to get involved, ahead of the largest sporting event ever hosted in the Middle East, by signing up for the fun-filled seven-a-side tournament which offers players the added prestige of representing one of the 24 competing Asian nations.
With the tournament mirroring the group stage and knockout format of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, football fans will come together throughout the country, as they battle to be crowned champions of the Asian Community Cup. Registration is now open to everybody aged 18 and older.

Kuala Lumpur: With 120 days to go to Asia’s biggest and most prestigious football tournament, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is giving football fans the opportunity to celebrate and showcase their passion for their teams with the launch of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Team Bus Slogan contest.
From now until September 30th, 2018, football fans can submit their slogan proposals for their favourite teams via the AFC’s social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, in the first phase of the contest, with the ultimate winners receiving an autographed national team jersey.
And the ultimate accolade will see the 24 winners have their slogans painted on the official team buses, which will be broadcast across the world and will ferry some of Asian football’s biggest names between the eight stadiums across the four cities, from January 5 to February 1, 2019.

Abu Dhabi: The biggest team of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 was launched with thousands of fans signing up as volunteers for the biggest-ever AFC Asian Cup in history.
With just over four months to Asia’s most prestigious football tournament, 5,000 opportunities were launched across a number of exciting and critical roles, from liaising with team services and VIPs hospitality across the competition, to media work and venue operations.
The launch event for the volunteers’ programme was attended by LOC Director of Marketing and Communications, Ahmad Al Qobaisi, who was joined by Saeed Khalifah Al Muhairi, Abu Dhabi Sports Council Director of Technical Affairs, along with Mohammad Al Shatiri AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Volunteers Programme Manager, who were present among a crowd of football fans on Friday in Dubai Mall.

Abu Dhabi: The Continent’s most prestigious football tournament – the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 – has today launched a new nationwide campaign aimed at inspiring women across the UAE to fulfill their potential in the community. Whether through sport or local initiatives, women in the Emirates are making positive change and are increasingly regarded as role models for the future.
The campaign, which continues the theme of the AFC’s highly-successful, ‘It’s My Game’ movement, is the first of its kind in the West Zone and will feature stories of real women involved in sport and the community, from players to doctors, marketers to managers, referees, photographers, coaches and more.
AFC General Secretary, Dato’ Windsor John said: “Women’s football represents an essential pillar for the AFC and is an important part of the future success of Asian football.
“As we have witnessed through the ‘It’s My Game campaign,’ we will continue to invest in their development to fulfil our vision and mission in expanding the reach of the game and to empower communities of all nationalities, ages, and backgrounds.
“There is no better platform to showcase and celebrate the inspiring role of women than through Asia’s most prestigious and biggest-ever football tournament.”

Dubai: Passionate fan Huraiz Hamad Mohamed Salmeen captured the imagination of the Continent when images of him shedding tears of joy were beamed after the United Arab Emirates defeated defending champions Japan on penalties to seal a place in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup semi-finals.
The glory of being champions, however, was not to be savoured at the end though as UAE lost 2-0 to eventual champions Australia in the semi-finals.
They recovered from their semi-final disappointment to defeat Iraq 3-2 to win the bronze with Salmeen eagerly cheering from the stands.
Four years later, the UAE will host the AFC Asian Cup 2019 with tickets for 51 matches in the 24-team tournament set to go on sale from Monday.
