Yangon: Palestine started their 2012 AFC Challenge Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over Bangladesh while Myanmar were held1-1 by the Philippines on Monday.
After the barren first half, Murad Eleyan scored a brace for the West Asians in the 46th and 65th minutes.
Myanmar custodian Kyaw Zin Htet was redcarded in the 73rd minute and James Younghusband converted the resulting spotkick to give Philippines the lead.
Khin Maung Lwin ensured one point for the hosts with a stoppage time strike.
Philippines will play Palestine while Bangladesh will meet Myanmar on Wednesday.
Top two teams from each of the four groups will qualify for the eight-team finals.
