Kathmandu: AFC Vice-President and All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Ganesh Thapa exuded confidence that the AFC Challenge Cup, which will begin here on March 8, will be a grand success.
"The venues are ready to host the teams and the spectators can expect quality football," said Thapa who is himself working round-the-clock at the two designated venues of the competition.
"This is a massive competition for us and all of us here in ANFA are doing our best to make this competition memorable."
"We are giving final touches to all the relevant matters of competitions organisation and hopefully everything will be ready and put in order come this Thursday."
"With the top personalities of world and Asian football visiting Nepal on this occasion, we are also geared up to show how passionate Nepalese people are when it comes to football. We are anticipating a packed Dashrath Stadium for the opening match of the competition between Nepal and Palestine and also the rest of the games."
"We relate the AFC Challenge Cup with the pride of our football and so far we have been getting the required support from all walks of life here in Nepal."
The AFC Challenge Cup kicks-off on Thursday when hosts Nepal take on Palestine, with Turkmenistan and the Maldives also in action, while DPR Korea begin the defence of their title against the Philippines the following day, which also sees 2008 finalists India and Tajikistan renew acquaintances.
