Group B: IR Iran seal quarter-final place in style

Pathum Thani: They only needed to avoid defeat in order to progress to the next round, but Islamic Republic of Iran made a statement of intent by defeating Korea Republic on Thursday.

A 2-0 win at the Pathum Thani Stadium in their final Group B match saw the Central Asians seal qualification for the quarter finals of the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023, bumping the already-through Koreans down to second place.

Group B: Hotak double secures Afghanistan winning farewell

Bangkok: Habibullah Hotak scored both goals as Afghanistan edged Qatar 2-1 to complete their AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 Group B campaign on a high note.

The win meant Afghanistan finished third in the group behind Islamic Republic of Iran and Korea Republic while Qatar’s campaign concluded with just one point to their name.

Group C: Australia defeat Tajikistan to advance

Bangkok: Australia beat Tajikistan 2-0 at the Rajamangala Stadium to book a place in the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 quarter-finals on Thursday.

With already-qualified Saudi Arabia defeating China PR 3-0 in the other group fixture, Australia finished runners-up and will meet the Group D winners in the knockout stage.

Group C: Saudi Arabia stay perfect

Chonburi: Saudi Arabia closed their AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 group stage with maximum points after a 3-0 win over China PR at the Chonburi Uta Stadium on Thursday.

Saudi Arabia, who had already confirmed their spot in the quarter-finals after consecutive 2-0 wins in Group C,  will meet the Group D runners-up next.

Twice-champions China PR, who drew 1-1 with Tajikistan and lost 5-3 to Australia, ended their 2023 campaign with their heads held high after giving their all in their matches.

Pathum Thani: Thailand head coach Pipob On-mo expressed his delight after his team defeated Yemen 1-0 to finish in pole position in Group A of the AFC U17 Asian Cup Thailand 2023.

Reflecting on the hard-fought win secured by substitute Tanakrit Lokman’s stoppage time goal,  Pipob said it the most challenging game the Southeast Asian side has played so far in the competition.

2024 Qualifiers groups finalised

Kuala Lumpur: Defending champions Japan will begin their bid to defend their AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ title in Group H of the 2024 Qualifiers while Islamic Republic of Iran's aim for a 13th crown will start in Group C.

A total 31 teams were drawn into eight groups with the eight group winners and seven best second-placed teams among all groups qualifying for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ 2024. 
 
These 15 teams will join the Host Member Association (MA), to be determined at a later stage and who will receive automatic qualification, to form the final cast at the tournament.

Klinsmann unperturbed by slow beginning

Seoul: Korea Republic coach Jurgen Klinsmann is confident he can reverse his team’s disappointing form after the German tactician saw his team fail to win any of his first four games since taking over from Paulo Bento in February.

The former United States coach has overseen losses against Uruguay and Peru along with draws in meetings with Colombia and El Salvador since taking over from his Portuguese predecessor, who led the Koreans to the last 16 at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
