Qualifiers Round 2 - Group A: Korea Republic, Thailand advance to Finals

Buriram: Korea Republic and Thailand booked their places in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ Indonesia 2024 Finals with a match to spare on Thursday.

Korea Republic defeated Islamic Republic of Iran 8-0 while Thailand beat India 4-0 with the two to meet on Saturday to decide the Qualifiers Group A winners.
 
They join the three highest-seeded sides from the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 – current holders Japan, DPR Korea and China PR - and hosts Indonesia in the Finals with two more teams to be decided from Group B which is being played in Hanoi.

Qualifiers Round 2 - Group B: Australia 6-2 Philippines; Bangladesh 0-2 Vietnam

Hanoi: Australia came back from two goals down to defeat the Philippines 6-2 in their AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ Indonesia 2024 Qualifiers Group A tie at National Youth Football Training Centre on Wednesday.

Vietnam were also victorious, defeating Bangladesh 2-0 to close on in a place in the Finals.

Hangzhou: Defending Asian Games men's football champions Korea Republic became the first team into the last 16 of the 2022 edition after a 4-0 cruise past Thailand on Thursday.

Hosts China PR and DPR Korea also registered second successive wins and both need only a point from their final group games on Sunday to guarantee a place in the knockout phase.

Wuhan: Head coach Takahata Tsutomu praised his Wuhan Three Towns players despite the Chinese Super League side being forced to settle for a draw by a late Urawa Red Diamonds equaliser in their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 Group J tie on Wednesday.

Wuhan looked set to mark their continental debut with a famous win after goals by Zhang Xiaobin and Davidson had given the reigning Chinese champions a 2-1 lead with the match in stoppage time.
